Doris Bushue

ROCK HILL – Mrs. Doris D. Bushue died at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill, SC, on October 11, 2021.  She was born in Newberry, SC on November 6, 1929, to the late John L. DeHihns and Essie Haskin DeHihns.

For forty-one years, Doris was a legal secretary, beginning her career at the law office of John Oates Woods and retiring from the Ridley, Ridley & Burnette Law Firm.

Doris was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over fifty years.  She enjoyed attending Tea and Empathy at the First Baptist Church.  During her sixty-five years as a parishioner of St. Anne Catholic Church, Doris was a member of various organizations and committees, including St. Martha’s Study Group, Bereavement Committee and Parish Office volunteer.  In 1997, she became a charter member and caseworker for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul – St. Anne Conference.  As a caseworker for more than twenty years, she not only helped those in need in the Rock Hill Community with financial aid, but also listened with a compassionate ear to their stories and treated each one with respect and dignity.  Thus, she was a true Vincentian.

She was a devoted wife and a wonderful mom, grandmomma and mom-mom.  Her kindness to everyone she met and knew will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Don, her husband and soulmate for almost 55 years.

Surviving are her children, Donna Willis and husband, Bobby, of Rock Hill; Michael Bushue and wife, Kim, of Rock Hill; six grandchildren, Bobby Willis, Jr., Kelly Moore, Don Willis, Chris Knight, Justin Bushue and Elizabeth Bushue; fourteen great-grandchildren and her very special friend for seventy-seven years, Ann Benfield.

Visitation will begin at 3:30 PM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her life at 4:00 PM on Friday, October 15, 2021, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 1698 Bird St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.  Fr. Adilso Coelho, C.O. will be the officiant.  Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Food Pantry, c/o 411 Lakeside Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

The family would like to extend a very special “thank you” to the staff and caregivers at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House for the compassionate and loving care given to this special lady.
